SCHOOLS

Empowering students to take ownership of their futures

Schools play an important part in our development, with most of us spending many hours of our early years in a classroom. The school environment is unique because it represents the start of our social journey. As well as a place to learn academically, school offers the opportunity to develop crucial personal and interpersonal skills that will prove essential in life. From job interviews to dating; from finding a career to finding a spouse, the way we interact with each other can shape our futures.

I feel privileged to have accompanied many young people on this rite of passage, as well as helping schools create an environment where pupils can really flourish. Over 16 years, I have worked collaboratively with a wide range of schools (both private and state schools) to improve the teacher-parent-student triangle. I have created and delivered bespoke programmes using a values-based approach to improve this dynamic and enhance the school environment for everyone. When this relationship is strengthened, the school can create meaningful connections with the wider community and world of work for its pupils.

Ideally sessions are around 90 minutes and best when tutors engage and participate and when designed as part of a year-long programme rather than just a one-off session. I incorporate neuro education in all my work developed through my charity work with young brain tumour survivors.

Programme Topics

Project Faro

I set up Project Faro when I moved to Spain because I recognized the gap in the market for a collaborative, multi-disciplinary offer for schools for non-academic workshops and activities.

I am particularly passionate about preparing students for the new world of work and blend my own style and content with the Buzz programme developed by David Hodgson over the last 25 years. I work closely with David to constantly develop and enhance the programmes impact with students and school staff in Spain. It is an evidence based, neuro educationally proven methodology to improve students self esteem, motivation, personal and academic results ahead of making life impacting decisions. The results year on year are outstanding with students consistently rating sessions 85% excellent.

I work closely with icould – a foundation dedicated to sharing the human side of the world of work through videos on line.

Descubre tu futuro

Since 2017 I have been a founding member of “Descubre tu futuro” – an association dedicated to creating a more holistic, evidence based national careers offer across Spain.

Flip educa

Dedicated to creating and delivering interactive, engaging non-academic workshops for primary and secondary students

I have been actively collaborating with Flip educa for the past 5 years and deliver sessions in Spanish and English depending on school preference. We have co-designed Gimcanas/Scavenger Hunts and Escape Rooms that are now the company’s bestselling products. Schools have all reported increased engagement in the language lessons after sessions.

Tutoria Entre Iguales

TEI: Tutoria entre iguales: Cross age peer mentoring programme for the prevention of bullying

I have been working closely with Andres Bellido the founder of the TEI programme for the past 6 years in order to improve engagement with schools across Spain and introduce the programme into English speaking schools. TEI is currently active in 1300 schools in the Spanish speaking countries (Spain. Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico) in early years, primary and secondary. We are currently in test pilot stage of a model developed specifically for the UK curriculum so it ties in with PHSE and British values initiatives at High Crest Academy.
